I treat everyone on this site (including the forums) the same way: as a friend or a potential friend. There are only a few exceptions; people who cannot or will not be friendly, and when I run into one of them I just move on. I'm only here for the same reason as most other people on this site: I'm here to enjoy conversations about the Sims! I'm not sarcastic toward other members, though I am sometimes sarcastic about EA. I know that it's often difficult to know the tone of some one's post when all you have to go by is text, but try to keep in mind that most people on this site just enjoy talking about this game that we all love. Very few people on this site are actually trying to be rude or upsetting. Most of us are just trying to have a nice conversation. And specifically with me, I'm just trying to convert potential friends into friends. I'm almost always smiling while writing my posts here, and I try to make others smile whenever I can too.
You should never take the internet too seriously--except in all those cases where someone like me is trying to be nice to you. Don't assume that kind words are some sort of sarcasm. Take my words at face value and please don't take advantage of the fact that I usually can't tell when someone else is being sarcastic ;)
A Note about Friend Requests: I check the MyPage of anyone who sends a FR to me. If the user posts in a foreign language, I will decline the FR because there's no way I can interact and develop a genuine friendship with them. If your page is private, I can't tell if you're someone I'd get along with, so I have to DECLINE FR's when I can't see your page.
